6th Post on My Second Book: The Lord of the Flies

There are some current situations in the world that relate to the novel. After all, this novel represents the world we are living in. It shows the corruptness of human being, and how violent and wild we can get. How humans look for stronger, better leadership and power when things do not satisfy us, regardless of what is right and wrong. This book is showing the conflicts between two group: the group of people who lives by rules, stays peaceful, and do what is right, and the other group that follows the instincts, eager for immediate desires, and use violence to rule the others. There are still many countries and groups of people who are under this type of conflict. I just hope that the civilization wins over savagery, no matter where or by whom.

Are you saying that savagery still exists? Although there are violence and fightings going on in our world as you said in the post, I don't think you can call it savagery. In my opinnion, savagery can only exist where there is no rules. For example, there weren't any punishments for killing each other in the novel. However, killing each other is immoral and against law in every countries.

In my belief, savagery wins civilization, and the world is not such a peaceful place. Leadership of one person can only get so far (like Piggy/Ralph's), in addition it is up to the people whether to follow it or not.
The reason I say that savagery wins what we call "civilized" because the one who is gaining the benefits is savagery, not the civilzed, and who are we to judge what is savage and what is civil? As you stated humans are corrupt and evil, how are we to point the speck in our friends eye with a plank in ours (ideaology from Bible - Jesus)?
